Pre made raw test this week

I picked up a bag of bison Nature's variety raw to do a trail run had a coupon. I don't think I'd ever do pre made. I love the type raw I do much more fun the nugget seem so small..

One nugget
Ingredients seem fine.. i got bison one since I don't feed bison often there is a bison farm somewhere so I might buy their stuff soon..

Here's some examples of the formula of food.

comes with 48 raw nuggets
Bison, Bison Liver, Beef Kidney, Raw Ground Bison Bone, Bison Kidney, Apples, Carrots, Butternut Squash, Montmorillonite Clay, Chicken Eggs, Broccoli, Lettuce, Salmon Oil, Spinach, Dried Kelp, Apple Cider Vinegar, Parsley, Honey, Olive Oil, Blueberries, Mixed Tocopherols with Citric Acid (a natural preservative), Rosemary Extract, Alfalfa Sprouts, Persimmons, Duck Eggs, Pheasant Eggs, Quail Eggs, Inulin, Rosemary, Sage, Clove

Saya eating her meal of beef gullet good source glucosamine or condrotine
Ingredient wise it looks good if your dog is allergic to chicken, duck or any poultry seems they have chicken and other poultry eggs. I know most dogs who are allergic to cooked chicken or what ever meat, but not raw, but there are some dogs who are allergic to both..

So be aware of that also it's not one protein formula I bold up the different proteins which is good for a dog who does fine with all proteins, but just thought I'd point that out.

48 nuggets in it should feed her for 8days or so price for bison is like $16. We'll see how it goes.

Tomorrow will be Saya's first day on it I plan to give her three nuggets in am and three in pm I weighed 6nuggets and it's about right amount she gets in a day.

I'll keep try on her poop if it gets runny or hard not sure how much bone is in it I can always give her bit of caned fish, little more boneless, a egg, gizzard with each day..

hare today order
Hare today also has meat/bone and organ mixes and they're more single protein you order duck you just get duck meat/bone/organs, order chicken same, goat etc.

Example of it is sheep meat, bone and organs(
liver, heart, lung and kidneys. )

Goat meat, bone, and organs(
heart, lung, liver, tripe and kidney along with bones)

Duck meat, bone and organs(
heart, liver, and gizzard)

Only difference is these don't have veggies, fruit, salmon oil, olive oil, and vitamin and minerals added. I dunno if this could be fed full time like pre made, but it's very nice for traveling and stuff.

The goat was my fav since it had tripe in it.

Hare today pre ground stuff is probably great for feeding when in a hurry, boarding, or traveling.

Saya loved the goat, mutton, and duck ones she didn't have any tummy issues.

This is a whole days worth of it. We'll see how she likes it tomorrow she seems like it when I was photographing it.

I'll be sure to update on how she does this week on it I don't think I'd do this full time though I prefer variety of items and affordability of my own type of raw..

Home made dog treats

Saya taste testing home made treats
I made some dog treats I followed recipe my mom got from her mom did some modifications due to corn meal and added bit more meat then required.

They turned out good and made a lot. Saya and Bella really liked them.

Cookie my mom made in Christmas time it's fancy with bone shape.. It's peanut butter flavor

Peanut butter ones my mom made.

Recipe is 1 cup wheat flour, 1 cup corn meal(I add oatmeal instead you could just do two cups of wheat flour or something else besides cornmeal if you like Rice flour or whatever as long as it's OK for dogs and your dog isn't allergic.)

1 egg, 3 table spoons of olive oil, 2/1/2 table spoon of parsley(Not needed if you don't have it the ones mom made didn't have parsley), 1/4th garlic(not needed if you don't like to use it)

2/3 cup of chicken stock be sure it's kind that doesn't have onions in it.. Can use beef stock too make your own too or buy it.

Slowly mix and add 1/2 cup of cooked liver or peanut butter can also do cooked boneless chicken, pork or beef grind it up so it mix well.

roll 1/2 inch thin

Bake at 350 for 20minutes might need cook bit more if it's thicker.

Finished cookie black thing is a bit of blueberry
This is the cookie I made I cut into squares and they break apart easily or can be fed whole.

All together is has pork, turkey, turkey liver, pork liver, beef liver, beef heart, parsley, one and half cooked egg and one raw, caned tuna, caned sardines, caned salmon and, bit of caned oysters also has some cooked veggies ground up veggies(broccoli, bit romane lettuce, bell peppers, spinach, and green beans.)
I used wheat flour and oats for the dry ingredient and did bit extra oats since was low on wheat flour and had extra ingredients like the meat, caned fish, and veggies.

boneless pork chops, turkey liver, pork liver, beef heart and a bit of beef liver
Here's how much meat I did 8 or so oz of boneless pork, one pork liver, one turkey liver, liver is 2.24oz each, tiny bit of beef liver, 4 or 6oz of beef heart all cut up.

pork cooking first and cut up so it cooked faster. I used olive oil to cook it in.

Pork, liver, heart all cooking. I actually tasted a bit of the cooked heart not bad reminds me of beef liver. grass fed beef heart! Rawr!

Some cooked blended parsley and two bags of cooked chopped up turkey meat, liver, gizzard, and heart each bag has like 3 or 4 oz of meat I think.

The turkey I got free with my craigs list ad for free meat.

It was enhanced so I cooked it up and chopped it up for training treats, kibble topper, or to make home made treats with.

This is a mix of cooked veggies(spinach, tiny bit of broccoli, green beans, bell peppers, and carrots) one and half boiled egg, little bit of banana, pear, and little bit of caned oysters.

I also added two caned sardines into both portions and put half can of salmon in Saya and Bella and half can of tuna in Saya and Bella's portions.

I had also put some oats in it and cooked it in the microwave. yummy. haha

I made this for Bella and Saya few days before deciding to make dog treats so I thought I'd add Saya's portion to the treat mix since her's was smaller portion and Bella got her's as a kibble topper.

Everything almost done turkey added in parsley, and then I added bit of water to cook it in to make a broth.

I then ground the cooked liver, heart, pork, and turkey in the grinder I already added the wheat flour and olive oil on the bottom.
Flour, oil, meat mix and veggie and caned fish mix was mixed into it all and a bit of the oats.
Broth that was left from cooking I added bit more water to it then added it to the mix.

Saya sticking around the kitchen to sample to raw batter. Like a kid wanted to eat cake batter.. haha
She loved it.

Mix has everything broth, egg and rest of the oats mixed in.

Spread onto the cookie sheet. I added some blue berries to it too I mashed it up and mixed it in the mix.

I made this batch bit thicker so I cooked it bit extra also didn't grease it enough so next batch I did better these turned out fine just some crumbs stuck to the cookie sheet so I put it into Bella's dog bowl she ate it with her kibble.

Pieces of finished treat the white bits are crushed eggshell. This isn't required. I added it into the veggie and caned fish mix when I thought I was giving it to Saya and Bella as a snack..

I don't think it'd hurt Saya and Bella has had egg shells before with no issues.

Next time I'll be sure to not add them if the stuff is going to be used for dog treats.

I bagged them up in small zip lock bags and then stacked them in a big zip lock to freeze them for later use.

Second batch done and cut up. There was little bit left so I made third batch of cookies too.

How they look from sides they're easy to break into bits or given in big pieces either way.

All the treats bagged up and stacked. Once they were done freezing I took them into the basement in the chest freezer.

Since they got meat in them I froze them. If I want train with them I take a baggie out or take a few treats and train.

Peanut butter ones would probably do fine out freezer unless you make a big batch then you can freeze it.

Home made wet dog food

Bella's portion of her kibble topper
Today I had some time to waste so I concocted home made wet dog food.. The picture above kinda looks like it maybe if I grounded the boiled egg more it would look more like it.

Both Bella and Saya loved it. I put in one can tuna no water, four cans of sardines the kind in water not mustard or oil I added it without the water too.

I boiled some carrots, broccoli, cabbage, roman lettuce, and apple and once done cooked bit of blue berries in it. I boiled three eggs and blended everything up then cooked it in a cup in the microwave and then blended again.

I also blended about 2oz or 3oz of cooked chicken and added that too.
Saya's portion
The mix also had one egg in it all and I then added one egg to each container so I guess they each got one and half egg or so in the mix.  Both have some coconut flakes unsweatened kind and natural or whatever no chemicals.

Bella will get this as kibble topper or along with her raw dinner as add on. Saya will get it as a snack in am or pm.

Saya got her's today I mixed it with a bit of warm water shredded unsweatened coconut, and cranimal vibe also added vitamin E.
Left is Saya's and left is Bella's

I'm thinking of trying some other things with the recipe to make it more yummy.

I'm thinking of adding some cooked grounded beef, liver, and heart with it maybe some tongue too.

Cooked grounded sweet potatoes and cooked grounded pumpkin should be good addition to it too.

I think This is a good kibble topper and easy to make bit smelly with sardines and coarse with liver if you were to add tiny bit.

Dogs should love it though. If you add bit of cooked liver in it be sure to give the dog tiny bit of the kibble topper don't go overboard since liver is rich so might cause loose poop to a dog that's not used to it especially if you add heart too.

I thought I'd post this since I did it today and you can make it however you want caned salmon instead of tuna or no fish at all just chicken, beef, pork, or lamb whatever your dog likes. Can always tweak it if your dog is allergic to something.

Don't need to add veggies either I did it because they were going to go bad if we didn't use them up and we only needed so much so I just cooked the rest we didn't use for the dogs.

Can add different veggies too just be sure they're OK for dogs to eat.

Same for fruit not needed, but Saya and Bella loves apples and blueberries. They also like mango, pears, raspberries etc. Be sure the fruit is OK too and don't make it the main ingredient fruit has sugar so I only add little bit just to give it a bit of a taste. No seeds they are not good for dogs.

Saya really enjoyed it and Bella will get her's soon she really was interested in it so I'm sure she'll love it.

Bella and Saya my taste testers and hiking companions
Sorry that my blog is never well written I did good in English class, but I just could never remember everything too well. I need get me some books and improve on it. haha

Saya's snack
Above picture is of Saya's snack it has shredded unsweatened coconut kind with no chemicals, cranimal vibe, and the wet dog food mix plus some warm water and vitamin E. Saya ate it all up.

She also gets a whole quail this evening so she should be happy today it's her favorite meal.

Ziwi peak samples on the way!

Saya looking at the kitty
Well thanks to Conker's owner's blog I asked for sample of their product to try.

I like Ziwi peak's ingredients looks great and worth feeding either for treat or as diet.

I don't think I'd switch Saya to full on it, but it'd make good snack, treat, or meal when I got camping or traveling etc.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Yummy turkey breast
                                Happy ThanksGiving!
I hope everyone had a good Thanks giving! Picture above is of Saya's thanksgiving meal last year a turkey breast and back it lasted her for a long time.

This year I didn't get her one never found good deal on one which was not enhanced.. :\
Coarse I wasn't really looking for any turkey deals..

We went shopping for a bit got some coffee at the butcher shop only place that sells Community Coffee. A brand of coffee from Louisiana I love it. Sadly no CC stores here.. I prefer their coffee over starbucks their mochasippi are so yummy!

Anyways I always check meat section because I like their selection and sometimes they have odd and ends stuff normal stores don't like raw smelt, lamb heart, lamb kidney a container of just chicken gizzards or just hearts not just mixed up tray.

Walmart by me actually sells raw smelt, but I didn't know till now.

Well at the meat section they had nice deal buy one get one free on packs of turkey parts I got three bags of turkey necks two came with one gizzard each, two came with liver and two came with some liver.

I got a pack of turkey wings too and four or six of turkey livers forgot how much each pack weighed the pack of wing came with something with bone in it and one of the necks pack had a bit of turkey backs too.

I'm so excited! I portioned out the necks, wings, gizzards, heart and tomorrow I'm portioning out the livers going to be one messy day.

Saya loves the turkey livers she had a bit of turkey liver, heart, and cooked turkey meat, cranberries, blue berries and brocolli no salt or sugar in it..

If I can manage room in the freezer I might buy out the rest of the wings and some livers. I don't get turkey much because it's never on good deal besides thanksgiving and would be a yummy variety for bone in meals..

Saya wanted more for her dinner, but she needs save room for tomorrow.. lol

Bella wasn't fond of the turkey liver I hope she'll grow to like it soon if not I can mix it in her kibble she'll probably eat the liver like that odd since she likes pork, chicken, deer, beef, and bison liver.. Silly boxer.

I never thought she'd ever refuse food. So far she is not fond of quail/pheasant/duck not sure it was either of those, caned crab and now turkey liver..

Ah well Saya used to hate tongue, heart and kidney. Now she loves those three things and eats it frozen or thawed.

Santa's favorite
Hope everyone had good time and was safe on black Friday! My mom got the dogs a pack of loofa dogs, two hedgehog dog toys, and the turkey parts.

The toys are for Christmas they got one of the loofa now and others for if Bella destroys the first.

Just remember it can be stressful and dangerous for pets around Holidays, cooked turkey, Christmas lights, cord, tree, ornaments, tinsel, guests coming in and out of house leaving opportunities to door bolt etc.

Try to keep Things positive for the pups and if you got guests comming be sure they know to not leave door to outside open for too long and not to give human food..

I'm all for giving a dog yummy treat on top of kibble, but be sure it's OK for the dog. mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes are yummy for dogs be sure they're not sweetened with brown sugar I think walnuts are not good for dogs I might be wrong.

Turkey is yummy, but be sure to not give cooked bone to the dog if you want to you can cook the dog some ground turkey, boneless turkey and put it on the kibble. I cooked some turkey meat added bit of cranberries and blueberries blended together and it looks just like caned dog food, but home made!

Plain cooked meat is fine I like add in blue berries and cranberries because dogs like them.

If you feed raw giving raw turkey ground, boneless, feet, wings, breast, back, neck or drumstick are yummy things for dogs. Some dogs seem have issue with turkey bones, but allowing them to stripe the meat is good exercise.

Saya handles the breast, back, and necks just fine she eats every bone she is 20lb, but it's know thy dog thing.

Pumpkin is a yummy kibble topper be sure to get just pumpkin kind not pie filling or buy a pumpkin and boil it up yourself and blind it together.

Saya and Bella loves pumpkin.

Careful of onions and careful of turkey that's enhanced the extra sodium can cause loose poop.

Never leave dog unattended while eating raw anything has risk I know dogs who died from kibble, toy, ground meat etc.

Saya has been raw fed for two almost three years so far no issues, but I still watch her she does fine, but never know.

Once I get the liver all weighed up, portioned and frozen I'll get a picture of the yummy treats. :)
