Saturday adventure

Friday night it started to snow and eventually looked like this in the morning.

Me and Saya hanged outside Saya potty and messed around in the snow while I shoveled the drive way she came to check on me every once in a while and I played fine the kibble with her I tossed hand fulls of kibble in various spots in the snow and she found them and ate it.

After awhile she got a bit adventurous and headed to the woods. I was almost done shoveling the driveway. Once I finished that I did the basement porch and then headed to the woods to call for her to come inside for breakfast.
Saya was in the woods the wood area is a bit hilly and there is a small stream of water where it empties out to the wild cat creek..

Saya was done there hanging sniffing things. She came right away when I called her and we headed home.

She got chicken gizzards for breakfast.. We hanged inside for a bit then went on a nice walk.

Saya lagged behind for a bit so Bella and mom went on ahead. She finally caught up. :)

She used my path to make walking bit easier. Smart pup. She can run good in snow if she wants to.
Some animal trails in the snow..

Bella had fun in the snow she loves the snow and following animal tracks.

Another set of tracks. Bella followed them for bit and came back when we got too far from her.

Neighbor's goats they have two of them same coloration and size.. Cute things love to baa at us. Fence looks to be electric.. Saya saw the goats, but listened and stayed on trail.

Usually it is covered by tall grass, but snow weighed it down so the dogs can see the goats now they also have one pony..

Snow ball fight! Sadly she can't throw her own snow ball, but she enjoys catching it. :)

Two hanging in the backyard sniffing.

Saya likes to check this area not sure why maybe there is mice or raccoon or some type of smells.. The trash always is locked when a bag is in it so I doubt raccoons get into it. maybe they come by hoping I forget the lock.

The orange bucket is the compost. I fill it then once that is full I take it down to the bigger compost bin.

Saya hanging in the driveway.. The snow we got from morning to now covered it so I had to shovel it again.
Saya paw prints so cute!

I go inside to put camera up so I can shovel and I see Saya laying down in the driveway so I had to get the camera again to get pictures!

She looks so comfy. :) I took a few pics then put camera up to finish shoveling. She got up eventually to check the side of the house for rabbits or mice. once I was done we went inside.
Bella was so tired that day and Sunday too she was still a little tired on Sunday.
Nice Christmas looking pic would been perfect if Bella was laying on the other side. ah well. Saya was so tired too. Next day she still had energy for nice walk..

Winter walk adventure

                                                               Today was a good day.
We had gotten some snow not enough to coat it with thick layer of snow, but still nice. There was more snow in the trails and wood compared to my back and front yard.

Saya and Bella hanged outside while I did some outside stuff then we headed for walk. I could tell Saya was ready for a walk as she kept wanting to chase leaves blowing in the wind..

Which I wouldn't have minded, but the leaves were in neighbor's yard. I just told her to come and if she tried to go for the leaves again I told her no and she got hint and headed for the side of the house to look for rabbits or mice.

We then went for walk in the field went six times around the second field trails to get them bit worn down some since it was our first wood walk for the year. We then headed into the woods for final round. Some fallen limbs, and fallen trees, dead vines hanging around in the right side of the woods.  Next walk I'll have to bring my clippers to cut the vines down.

I had to move one fallen tree luckily it was smaller tree compared to thick ones, but still hard to mess with since it was long. I just dragged it off to the side.  Still need to move three more trees..

Saya did good as usual she hanged off to the side sniffing stuff and out of the way and Bella hanged bit too close for a bit so I had to tell her to go and pointed where she headed out of the way and waited for me to finish.

Took nice picture of Saya with my cellphone on the big fallen tree. My phone is a flip type phone not fancy iphone so sending my pics to computer is a bit of a chore..

Also saw some raccoon prints and opossum prints on various areas each time I called Saya to come and pointed to the prints. Saya had fun sniffing them.

Saya smelled the animal den at the base of the tree. Not sure if it is occupied or not.. Maybe when I get a game cam I'll set it there for bit to see if anything goes in or out of it. Which won't be getting one for while as I still need to get a smaller camera.

I'm thinking of getting those tough type cameras or just a small camera. I'd like a waterproof one to protect from snow.

We headed to the trails and I had to drag out a fallen locust tree.. Good workout! Saya was off sniffing around so I called her and she headed to me and we headed home. Bella did well she didn't go off to find deer poo to eat.. yucky Bella.

Cute bird in the yard
I brushed Saya as she is still shedding her coat. once done she went into shiba 500 mode.. Running all over the yard chasing down her balls of fur when wind blew it.

Saya ate her breakfast in am and later after our walk gave her pork ribs which she only ate little bit so she'll get rest of the ribs tomorrow.

Saya is hoping we'll get more snow. I love how happy and excited she acts ready for our walk.

Basement is done.. sorry for lack of updates

Basement has been done for while. I got the bathroom repainted it looks much nicer than before. More brighter. Need to caulk the bath tub then I'll be done with it.

Winter is arriving so mostly been prepping for that cleaning the garage out, put the canoe up and prep my bog garden to survive any snow we may get. The bog's pot is way too heavy to take to the garage so I leave it outside all year. Most I do is trim dead stuff and put good layer of pine needles on top.

Once spring comes I take pine needles off. if I don't get all the needles it won't hurt the plants.

This spring I'll be re potting the plants as they're growing so well. Especially the purple pitcher. I might just get one of those liners for ponds and plant the stuff in that much more room for the plants to spread out.

I seen some people who make raised gardens where they have raised bed and liner with peat, perlite or peat and sand for drainage..

Anyways I got few good updates to post so I'll post them this week.

Sorry for lack of updates been kinda occupied.

My rooms done

Camera is in my store room so using my AC room as pic instead. hehe
My room is done stained, sealed, and painted. Finally got the closet doors in dad kept postponing it. He's like I'll get it tomorrow, no after I shoot my arrows.. etc.

Yesterday I asked him can we get it done now and he said OK. Coarse we screwed it up a bit so it had to be re-done this morning, but it is finally done! Hurray!

I just need get dust out of the room and clean floor then get the bed in. maybe my game and dvd storage too.

I just need paint the guest room and then clean the floor in the basement then stain it. It's a crazy process! I'm hoping once we get my stuff out of the store room into my room there will be enough room for the couch, and couple exercise things so we can stain without having to do it in sections.

I'll be happy once all this work is done in the basement. Coarse we'll be doing upstairs too, but that won't be for while.

Saya made from colors 3d on my 3ds :D I traced a picture of her and colored it so not very original, but I like it helped me get used to the paint program.

Carpet has been in the house since we bought it so it's probably 8 or even 12 years or more.
My mom is having lung problems or immune stuff so we are trying to fix the house up get rid of the carpet which she been wanting to do for long time. Luckily we got it done.

Coarse to top it off my mom's car is breaking down so we had get a new one as it wasn't safe to go long distances in it.

She got a nice truck which has plenty of room in the back for me and the dogs when we travel.

Due to all the expenses from new roof, basement and now car Bella is now eating mainly Totw lamb formula. I plan to get another variety of Totw either the bison/deer one or waterfowl one.

Much lower priced food compared to wellness core/ core ocean and fromm..

She gets fresh food too like plain greek yogurt, egg, caned sardines, salmon, mackerel. plus raw meal two to three times a week and chicken foot once or so a week. So far she is doing well with the Totw I also give her a little honest kitchen love formula as kibble topper once or twice a week she seems enjoy it and so far no issues.

Once things get better we'll be able to rotate between wellness cores, fromm and Totw again.

Basement rennovations incomming!

I haven't posted much mainly due to basement renovations. We are going to rip up the carpet and work on the cement so we just have cements as flooring in the basement I'm sure Saya will like that to cool off on once it's done.

It's been some work. I got all my books, dvds, games and collectables in the storeroom amazing what you can fit when your determined to fit it all.

I put my wallet in the dresser and forgot to take it out so I had to squeeze in to get it out. Crazy! ಥ⌣ಥ

We are also going to paint the guest room and my room. I chose a blue color it looks nice not a deep dark blue more like lighter.. I'll post pic once it's all done and painted. Guest room we got paint called toasted marshmallow.

The stained concrete should look good. Only issue there is a crack in the cement, but we'll fix it up..

Hopefully that will be it on the big projects. We need to take carpet out upstairs, but not right now.

Luckily it was nice day Yesterday I cleaned the snake aquariums out. I didn't have stuff for Jade aquarium so I'll be getting that today or tomorrow. She doesn't seem to mind as long as she has her hide out area and water she is happy.

Hopefully once I'm done with this project I'll make it better habit of updating my blog.

Also once done I plan on ordering some stuff from hare today.

It's been long time since I last gotten stuff from there so I look forward to it.

I plan to get 6 things of Whole Atlantic Herring, 2 lb each,
4 things of Duck Feet, 10 per bag, and 4 things of adult whole quail 8 per bag. I finally have good enough room in the freezer to fit all that stuff. Price is high, but should last Saya for good while.

I also have a $25 gift card for the place so that is good.

Saya has had the quail before and she loved it. She had duck feet before, but only dehydrated kind not raw I have chicken feet in the freezer which she loves.

The herring she never had before she's eaten white fish, saury, mackerel, tiny piece of Alaskan salmon, and smelt she loves fish so I'm sure she'll love the herring. We'll see.

Low value treat reward:Kibble

I feed raw mainly, but for low value treats I do use things like kibble or tiny bits of dog biscuits or treats.

I gotten small bag of Back to basics open range formula. I thought ingredients was Decent and Saya liked it plus it was on sale so not bad price.

Only down side Ainsworthpets the people who make back to basics make two other brands.Which are Source four star from dogfoodadvisor.com and vf-complete which has Menadoine in it.

Luckily they are no longer making VF-Complete kibble which is good..

Info on issues with menadoine here.

I reused the bucket from my first gallon of coconut oil. I had to wash it really good to get it clean..

Fits small bag of kibble just fine and shuts tightly.
I have this container full of treats easier to get into then the gallon bucket so easier to fill the treat bag.

Plus I keep the bucket elsewhere so this small container is nice and fits in my room out of the way.

I got the two small bags of kibble on February 24. The other bag of kibble I got is Fromm surf and turf.

If I had choose between back to basics and fromm I'd choose fromm I like fromm more and they have wide range of formulas to choose from. Either way I don't plan to buy back to basics again.

Ingredients for fromm Surf and Turf:

Salmon, Duck Meal, Potatoes, Pea Flour, Sweet Potatoes, Duck, Chicken Fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols), Dried Tomato Pomace, Salmon Meal, Whole Dried Egg, Pea Protein, Chicken, Flaxseed, Cheese, Salmon Oil (preserved with mixed tocopherols), Chicken Broth, Carrots, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Apples, Green Beans, Lecithin, Chicken Cartilage, Potassium Chloride, Cranberries, Blueberries, Salt, Chicory Root Extract, Alfalfa Sprouts, Yucca Schidigera Extract, Folic Acid, Parsley, Lactobacillus Acidophilus, Bifidobacterium Longum, Lactobacillus Plantarum, Enterococcous Faecium, Vitamin A, D3, E, B12 Supplements, Choline Bitartrate, Niacin, Pantothenic Acid, Ascorbic Acid, Riboflavin, Thiamine Mononitrate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride, Biotin, Zinc Sulfate, Ferrous Sulfate, Manganous Sulfate, Copper Sulfate, Cobalt Carbonate, Calcium Iodate, Sorbic Acid, Iron Proteinate, Zinc Proteinate, Copper Proteinate, Manganese Proteinate, Sodium Selenite.

Ingredients for Back to basics open range formula is:

I don't ever plan to put Saya fully on kibble, but they do make good low value treats she doesn't get a ton of it and not even full days or meal portion some weeks she doesn't get any some she just gets two or three tiny pieces.

This last Sunday I put the rest of back to basic kibble into the smaller container and added the fromm kibble to the container after I cleaned it and dried it. I did a bit extra work and got the coconut oil sticker off of the bucket so it looks nicer.

I much prefer raw diet myself a bit of hard work at first, but Saya's health improved a lot since putting her on it.

Once I'm done with fromm I plan to get small bag of ziwipeak lamb.
Ingredients:
Lamb Meat, Liver, Tripe, Heart and Kidney, Chicory Inulin, Green-lipped Mussel, Fish Oil, Lecithin, Kelp, Vitamins and Minerals, Parsley, Naturally preserved with mixed tocopherols, Vitamin D3, Vitamin E, Copper Proteinate

2.2lb bag is about $27 or so maybe less or more depends where you get it from.

11lb bags are $123.

Doggie casserole ,.

Finished dog casserole
Last Saturday we got tons of stuff from farmer's market so gotta make yummy dishes.

I decided to try make my own casserole type dish for us humans, but had some veggies leftover and instead making second for us so we have too much food to eat I decided to make dog version of it.

The human version tasted good Yummy.

finished human casserole
They're pretty much have similar ingredients, but some differences..

Here's general stuff I did to make it.

Brown rice cooked in beef broth instead of water then I lined the dish with the rice.
Then layered on top of rice cut up mushrooms.

Cooked garlic and olive oil for tiny bit then added the kohlrabi first, carrots, then green peppers.

Once veggies were almost done I added half cup or maybe more or less of beef broth let it boil for bit then I made layer of veggies then poured rest of the broth into the dish.

I then put rest of veggies into a bowl for the other thing I made.

I cooked the ground deer then put in the dish then put spinach, basil, parsley and some cheese on top. Cooked for 360 for 30minutes and it is done! The extra broth that was added from the veggies got absorbed by the rice.
For the dog version I cooked rice in water instead of beef broth then added veggies on top no mushrooms of coarse.

I put little bit of the ground deer on it, spinach, basil, and parsley.

I then cooked some organ meat to add to it. two small beef heart pieces and one ewe heart piece, beef liver and ewe liver, and one beef tongue. Yummy well to a dog at least.
Just added so still bit frozen on one side
I cooked the meat in coconut oil which usually helps keep smell of organs cooking down. hehe

Once done I let sit for a bit to cool then ground it up.

I added some oat meal on it evenly before adding the meat and then cooked covered with aluminum foil for 20minutes or 30.

Both dogs got a turn to clean the pan. hehe

I put the food in containers and froze two and kept one out. I plan to give as kibble topper for Bella and snack for Saya.
I doubt it's a full complete meal, but the dogs sure do love it.

Today Saya got some of it with her chicken liver she went nuts over it.

Bella will get some today with half kibble, and tiny amount of casserole. tiny amount of honest kitchen love and a egg.
