Amazing grass:Chocolate green super food arrived.

Amazing greens stuff came today. :) I got it from amazon as they coarse have it for lower amount then the company selling it for.. $32.46 compared to $49.99.

I opened it up to see how it looks the powder is chocolate color since I got chocolate.. I'm thinking it'd be green if I got the original formula.

I tasted tiny bit of the powder and it tasted pretty good.

It comes with a scoop it's a little buried in the stuff.

Coarse today is day one on trying this we'll see if the claims it makes is true or not.

I do like the taste so if anything I'll get it from Amazon as it's lower priced and use to mix with my smoothies to give it a boost.

Especially with mowing season begins I'm going to be the main one mowing the fields which is a lot of work doing 16acres.. We only mow whole thing once a year.

I also got a protein bar for free it's not from amazing grass it's called kind +. I'm not one to eat protein bars, but it was free so I thought I'd try it.

Yeah it has barley grass, wheat grass, alfalfa, and tons other ingredients.. Does have spirulina which I read is supposed to be good for you.

I seen spirulina and few pet supplements and read about it some..

I had my first cup with dinner.. I mixed it with milk it doesn't taste too bad not super sugary like chocolate milk, but drinkable at least.

I think it be more better blended as a smoothie.

Dinner for me was pork chop, mashed potatoes, broccoli, and carrots yummy.

Saya had 2.24oz lamb kidney, tiny bit of sweet potato, tiny bit of caned dog mix, honest kitchen, and joint supplement. Yummy. Saya loved it of coarse.

Bella had usual kibble and bit of caned dog food mix and sweet potatoes.

Tomorrow she'll get turkey thigh and some organs and caned dog food mix.

Bizarre foods stir fry!

I made this for lunch today. It's onions, carrots, yellow squash, green peppers, celery and green beans cooked seasoned, and then cooked with 2.24oz of grass fed beef liver and 1 or 2oz of grass fed beef heart also an egg in it too. 

I seasoned it with salt, pepper, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, soy sauce, Sriracha, sesame seeds, bit of Lime juice, and orange juice.

This is from Saya's food I wanted to try heart see how it taste..

It's OK I'd eat it if there was nothing around.  With all the seasonings it actually did taste pretty good. There is enough for lunch or dinner for two or three days..

I'm not huge fan of organs, but beef liver and now beef heart isn't too bad if seasoned right.

I don't like turkey liver though cooked it for training treat for Saya and it didn't taste good.

I like making odd meals and it's probably healthy too grass fed beef.. The yellow squash and green peppers came from my garden too. :)

There is a cantaloupe or watermelon growing in the front yard probably from me putting compost that wasn't  finished composting on a hole where mom removed a small tree..

I would have used zuchinni, but the ones growing aren't big enough just yet..

I love growing stuff at the garden pulling weeds can be a pain though..

Rabbits and ground hogs too they ate all my carrots, some broccoli, and radishes.. Saya does good job keeping them off, but she can't be outside 24/7 due to heat, and night..

Ah well at least I know I can't trust dad when he plants things it's me who has to keep it weed free and stuff.. Pepper wax spray helps keeps critters off plants.

Velvet elk antler supplement came

Yesterday Saya's new supplement came it's elk velvet antler by Natraflex they make supplement for humans and pets. Supposed to be good for joint health I've been told and seen people suggest it so I figured I'd try it out.

Superflex the name of the pet formula. There is other brands out there, but I thought I'd try this since this brand was recommended.

Here's a bit on why I feed raw and been trying different joint meds.

Saya since I picked her up from her breeder she bunny hopped. The vet checked her on first examination and vaccine shots and he didn't find anything wrong with her knee or hips.

At 6months she got a x ray while she was under for her spay. Her hips and knees looked good I saw the x ray myself.

I continued to be stumped what was up.. 6months I started to venture into giving her raw items she would get a raw egg once a week then. Before that from 8weeks to 5 months she got cooked eggs, caned salmon, sardines, mackerel cooked meat, and caned dog food along with her kibble I'd rotate it each week sometimes she got bit extra.

At 6months she got the raw egg along with her other items.

7months old I kept giving her the caned fish, cooked, meat, caned dog food, raw egg and then I added lamb ribs to rotation. After research I got more into raw feeding and I though lamb ribs be good start to see how she like raw.

She got the lamb ribs with a raw egg and bit of caned fish as a dinner instead of kibble once a week and she did good with it.

8months I plunged full onto raw she was on same kibble as Bella wellness core ocean so I didn't need wait for kibble to get eaten up. I bought a thing of chicken thighs and drumsticks once those were out I got her more and added chicken breast to the mix.

I did chicken for while then slowly added in pork then beef liver, then beef kidney it took while for each new item in slow transition.

I went to my first shiba meet up type thing it was the shiba picnic at Madison WI. I got to meet Pat Doescher from Hi-Jinx shiba inu. She coarse was concerned with way she was walking asked if it was HD or something.

I told her it wasn't and vet examined her and had x ray done to be sure and nothing wrong with her hips or knees. She then suggested maybe it's neurological or with spine?

Once back home we asked the vet and he checked the x rays again and sure enough something was up with spine. It doesn't look too bad and so far she doesn't seem to be in any pain that I can tell.

She runs around and runs up and down hills with no issues.

She can jump up my bed and on fallen trees with no issue..

Second year on raw or maybe when I got back from the shiba picnic I got her chicken feet it supposedly is good source of natural condroitine and stuff. She loves chicken feet so they make yummy treat or snack.

I been giving her joint health tablet from Springtime I got it for free for buying the bug off tablets.

Saya been taking them and now she takes green lipped mussel supplement supposed to be good for joints as a natural supplement.

So far I like the Green lipped mussel supplement and it is at a good price and should last her for a while she gets two capsules a day I just put it on her plain Greek yogurt or caned fish and she eats it up.

She is on day two on it and I doubt I'll see any improvements in this time. I've been told it took two weeks for it to show.

I might stop giving the Springtime joint health once I'm out and just give the green lipped mussel and elk velvet antler supplement.

I've been giving the joint health one day and the other she doesn't get it.

I don't want to give her too many joint supplements I dunno if too much is good or bad or if one would cancel each other..

I do notice with addition of the green lipped mussel she seems much more active and not too tired even in the heat. Coarse I make sure she always has water around and if it's too hot she is put inside to cool off while I work outside.

120 tablets should last her for 60days which is nice. I gave her one and she tried it and didn't like taste so I crushed it in her bowl and she ate it when I mixed a tiny bit of plain Greek yogurt with it.

The tablets don't smell to bad and she does like deer antlers.. Maybe I'll offer it during evening since she tends be more willing to eat things in the evening.

Ingredients look fine so far I need look it all up though.. I haven't compared other elk velvet supplements yet too..

I might get human kind for myself..

Two a day for dog her size, four for large dog and one for cat..

The green lipped mussel supplement came I got two of these to use up we'll see how long it'll last her and if it helps. I might keep supplementing anyways not too expensive for two bottles of it.

Today is day two on it Yesterday she had one when I got it and second in evening I mixed it in plain Greek yogurt.

This morning I gave it to her by mixing it in caned salmon along with her joint tablet and her bug off garlic stuff. she gets the bug off tablet and joint tablet once a day and she'll get the green lipped mussel powder twice a day.

So far she seems to like it she hasn't refused the stuff it has a mussel, clammy oyster smell or something which isn't surprising seeing as it's green lipped mussel.. hehe
It also has alfalfa Leaf in it which isn't bad I don't think I seen it in some dog food I think honest kitchen maybe not I don't feed that or haven't tried it yet so I forgot.

 I dunno if it's worth giving, but the price is good $26 for 180 capsules of it.

I know someone else who gives it and says they like it coarse they also give another joint pill so it might be the joint pill that helped or could be a combo of the two that has helped with the dog's joints.

I plan give it a try and see how it goes.

Saya's morning supplements she gets one green lipped mussel in am, three bug off garlic in am and one glucosamin and condroitin in am and pm she just gets the green lipped mussel powder.

I have to crush the joint tablet and garlic tablet to mix it with the Greek yogurt or caned fish.

She'll eat the bug off garlic on her own, but the joint tablet she isn't fan of it. It's peanut butter flavor, but I guess not enough.

I have wrap it with bit of cheese, peanut butter to get her to eat it so I find it easier to crush in just give with her green lipped mussel also even though she willingly eats the garlic I crush it anyways so she gets it.

I give her one sometimes two where I don't give her garlic tablets.

Yummy crushed supplements, caned salmon and 2.25oz of grass fed beef kidney a meal only a dog would love. haha

This week I plan to get her some beef sweetbread(thymus) been out of it for long while.. I need to be sure I keep it in stock so I can rotate between that and kidney.

I plan to order the velvet elk antler stuff soon to try too.

Green lipped mussel supplement

Saya gets around great, but since she has her spinal injury I worry about her sometimes.

Reason I feed raw is due to it and I'm thankful now I think any other dog I get will be raw fed too It's a dog diet for me.. hehe

Anyways I been meaning to try green lipped mussel supplement to see if it would help with her joints.

She doesn't show signs of being in pain or anything she can run like her tail is on fire! haha

I figure I'd give it a try to see if it helps who knows it might give her more power and she'll feel so much better to walk and run!

She does get around pretty well, but on walks she lags behind some so could be due to fatigue on her feet I don't know.

Bug off garlic has come part 1 review

The package have Yesterday which was one heavy box! It came with four containers of bug off garlic plus bonus item for spending over $75 or something like that.  I picked joint health chewables to try.

The joint health chewables I got has 90 chewable tablets which according to Saya size she gets one a day. I plan to give these a trial once her current ones are used up. 90 tablets are $24 so getting it free isn't too bad though price wise I dunno I don't buy these types items often.

I got these for $117.30 my mom payed for her's and mine so it wasn't that much like $60 each or so I forgot.

If this works it'll be worth it. Buy one 1,000 tablet jar and get a 1,000 tablet jar free so each dog gets 2,000 tablets.

Also it says to slowly introduce it to them over period of 5-10 day period.

 So far taste wise Saya took to it right away and so far hasn't had issue with eating the bits when I give it to her plain with no food or anything.

Bella my parent's boxer she spit the little piece out at first she is always leary of new treats, but I picked it up gave it to her again and she ate it with no fuss so I guess she likes it.

Her second time taking it I tossed it into her kibble and third I just put it in her dog bowl she seems to have hard time picking it up if it gets on the ground and the bowl helps her get it easier..

The tablets are easily broken into half piece or four small pieces for transitioning on it.

According to guide Saya needs two tablets a day and Bella four. Also says if tick, fleas, mosquitoes, gnats and flies are heavy to double it.

I'll probably stick with normal amounts and up it if bugs get bad.

This how I got it set up so all I gotta do it take a piece and give to her with no issue of having to break a piece put back into the jar and then later on find the broken piece..

While she is being transitioned to the full dose I'll do it like that.

I did same with Bella too her's is upstairs so mom can give the morning dose and I or her gives pm dose.

Saya has gotten cooked ground garlic that has been cooked and grounded with veggies and fruits.

I don't think garlic is as dangerous as onions and if given in small amounts shouldn't harm the dog.

I live in the country so we do have ticks mainly in the field not so much in the backyard. I think the morning birds eat any that are in the yard because I always see them picking up worms, grubs, and various things could also be we keep lawn mowed and there's never leaf piles and so on.

We also have gnats, mosquitoes, horse/deer flies, and even fleas. Though for some reason the dogs haven't had any issues with fleas. Our cat gotten them once which we took care of right away so it didn't spread..

Ticks, gnats, mosquitoes and deer/horse flies are main issue. Saya does fine with gnats they can't get to her with her thick coat, but Bella the boxer gets eaten up by gnats and horse/deer flies most times she has to go in the house because it's so bad.

We don't leave her out 24/7 or anything we only bring her out when we do yard work, walks and training and stuff. She loves to sun herself and check what we are doing.

So it's sad when she has to go into the house due to the flies and gnats.

We keep the yard clean of coarse always pick up poop two to three times a week and keep any trash well put away and stuff..

So I hope the bug off garlic helps with the fly and gnat issues.

I have been reading different articles and posts made by dog owners about coconut oil it supposed to be really good for dogs and humans. I decided to try it got one from walmart it's organic and virgin all that stuff.

It's best to get the cold pressed, unrefined, virgin and ideally, organic oil.

Brands that contain hexane is not good because it's a chemical used in mechanical extraction process I'm not sure why, but I prefer the cold pressed and organic is always good..

The one I bought is from walmart it's $10 forgot how much it had, but I tried a little bit of it and it tasted good had a hint of coconut in it. The one at walmart I found in the vitamin section.

I'm not sure if the benefits is true or not, but worth a shot. Saya likes the taste and coarse Bella likes anything I give to her.

I plan to slowly work up both dogs and myself to the amount we need..

I'll probably use it for fruit smoothies for myself. Saya ate it off my finger with no issue sniffed it for a second and then licked it right up usually it takes her longer to like new things.

I plan to buy the Nutiva brand to try next seems good for the price.

The Nutiva Organic Extra Virgin Coconut Oil, 29-Ounce Jars (Pack of 2) seems to be a good price for amount you get..

I found the one in walmart in the vitamin section and I believe GNC has it probably any vitamin shop or health food store will have it.

Just be sure it's the virgin, organic and unrefined kind. Refined kind might have chlorine and hexane.

I rather get the unrefined kind better be safe then sorry.

I'll post more if I find anything different from adding this to me and the dogs diet..

I guess any brand is good as long as it's the right kind.

I'm not saying to go out and buy coconut oil and give to your dog I'm just writing this because I found it interesting.

Saya only gets vitamin E twice a week, cranimal very berry and vibe every day and sometimes I skip a day, but I try to give it every day.

She doesn't get fish oil because Saya gets raw smelt, saury, and caned sardines, mackerel and salmon she also gets raw mackerel sometimes, but I haven't gotten any more right now.

So I feel she is fine and don't need fish or salmon oil supplemented.

I plan to try this coconut oil to see how it goes.

I'm not sure if coconut oil would replace fish oil? I know they both have different vitamins and minerals or whatever so I'd probably give one one day and one the other or something like that I wouldn't replace one for the other.

The coconut flakes in backing section is most likely not good for dogs has sugar added to it. I'm sure health food places have coconut flakes natural and not sugar added.

I plan to also try Green Lipped Mussel Powder supposed to be good for Rheumatoid Arthritis, Bursitis, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Sports Related Injuries, Lyme Disease, Inflammatory Skin Conditions, and Connective Tissue Repair.

I think any health food place would sell it and human grade would be fine coarse I'll check to be sure.

I had asked for some samples of their products not sure what they're sending me or how much, but it'll be nice so I can see if Saya likes the stuff before buying.

I've read some people use it for their dog or cat and it works nicely for their pet so I'm excited to try it who knows.

Bella my parent's boxer has been having tear stains on her eyes and one person on the cranimal facebook page said giving the cranimals helped clear it up so Bella will be getting it too.

I'm thinking trying the Very berry and the Vibe at first and maybe do Sports depends on how the two things work out.

Saya being raw fed I'll probably give it to her daily with either an egg, ground meat, caned fish, or plain Greek yogurt.
